Last week was just one of those weeks. You know when you actually have 1000 things to do but such little time to do it in. Or when you do get on with doing something, it just seems to go wrong.
That was me last week. My off day seemed to roll into an off week, and frustration set in. So last Sunday I took the day off to reset and rebalance, and decided to visit Columbia Road Flower Market.
If you haven’t had a chance to visit some of London’s most famous street markets yet, it’s definitely worth the trip. These little hotspots make for a great day out with family or friends. Or for some well needed ‘you time’ just go on your own.
As with most of London’s street markets, the hustle and bustle and comedy of squeezing though the foot traffic is part of it’s charm. The east-end market sellers hollering out their deals of day. The hipster couples out for coffee. The families with 2.4 kids, strolling around with their dog. Here you will find and see it all.
Of all the other markets I have visited, I would say that Columbia Road has been the most chilled of them all. Maybe that’s down to the weather. Or the fact that it’s a Sunday market, so inherently people are just more chilled out. Maybe both.
Towards the end of the day market sellers seem to pull out all the stops too. I’ve always found the flower market to be full of great priced flowers. So if you can hold on till Sunday, you’ll definitely be in for a treat.
The last few times I’ve visited the flower market, I’ve always enjoyed the same relaxed vibe. I’ve found it to be just a really sweet place to visit with some pretty flowers to be bought.
