The fashion of growing up is nothing new. We know as time goes on things change. Growing up in Fashion however, takes a little more thought.
This spring I did a massive haul of my wardrobe. I guess it was the change in season and just the general frustration of never finding anything to wear in a mass of clothing that I never wear. I decided their was just no point continuing and thus the clear-out began.
After nearly 10 bin liners of clothes for charity. I am a little closer at finding something to wear that I like. Mostly because I can now actually see what I like.
This summer I’m growing up in fashion. I’m out with the clothes I bought when I was 21 and in with a whole new idea of smart shopping. I’m taking a closer look at my body shape and rethinking the styles that suit me. I don’t really/try not to shop off the cuff because it’s a bit of headache with how busy the shops can get, and I tend to buy things I don’t actually need, or that don’t go with anything in my wardrobe. I’m still sales shopping, but this time only for things I’ve had my eye on anyway.
On a recent trip to the states this Summer, I strolled around in my favourite go to comfy outfit of t-shirt and jeans. You can never go too far wrong. Dress it up with heels and its a night out, dressed down with sneakers or flats and your good to go for the daytime. Throw in a belt and it’s a bit more effort than I’m used to already! Small steps.
So overall, my idea of growing up in fashion is out with the old and in with a whole new style game plan. More considered purchases. More classic pieces. Less clutter. More chic.
