Good morning all! Happy World Sleep Day…
I’ve spent some time researching the benefits of beauty sleep and I can honestly say, I don’t know why I hadn’t figured this out sooner.
Whilst I’ve always enjoyed it, I’ve found as I’ve gotten a bit older, sleep has become much more of a luxury. If I’m not busy working, I’m busy working on something else. We are all getting busier, and sadly time is not slowing down. Having said that, this is even more of a reason why we should be maximising on this little nugget of golden time. Here are some tips for a good night time routine.
Imagine that whilst you sleep, your body is repairing itself. Yep, growth and repair happens at night and although you know nothing about this, this is the perfect time to boost this nightly process with just a little consideration. The returns for your skin are massive for just relatively little input each night.
Recently, I’ve been using the Estee Lauder moisturisers and night serums in my night time routine, and it’s been absolutely amazing. My skin feels soft and pampered after applying. I’ve also been using a Lavender bedtime room spray from Boots. This helps to cultivate a calm and relaxed environment to sleep in. And I aim to get somewhere between 6- 8 hours sleep per night whenever I can.
By just allowing yourself an extra hour or two of sleep per night. Your body has more time to repair and hence, reduce the chances of stress and signs of early ageing. There are other benefits too. Having an early night, definitely improves your energy levels and your concentration too.
Initially I found this quite difficult to start winding down to go to sleep earlier than midnight but after a couple of nights, I realised the benefits, and was actually sleeping my way to better skin and overall better health.
