Recently I’ve decided to add a dedicated stretching session to my morning routines.
After waking up on several occasions feeling really stiff and achy, and just really feeling like my body was shrinking. I decided to take control. We all know that exercising can be a great way to support strength, lean muscle and overall well-being, but what about just a good ol’ stretching session on it’s own?
Often overlooked as the precursor to more strenuous or intense exercise. “The bit your have to do before you do the harder bit’ It’s such an easy thing to begin, that can make a real difference to your day.
Without the pressure of necessarily needing to add a workout to the end of it. A great way to keep muscles warm and in good shape, is simply by stretching. You don’t strictly even need an instructor for this, but it is nice to feel you are stretching your muscles safely if your new to exercise. I found a great youtube video by a pilates instructor who does a fantastic 10 minute stretch routine, whilst discussing some really positive messages throughout. Such as saying nice things to yourself, navigating through tricky friendships and overall being positive in your approach to things.
If your thinking about adding something a little extra to your daily or even weekend routines but don’t/can’t leave the comfort of your own home, this is a great way to start. Really feels quite nice to have completed it once you’ve finished. Even if you are not the most flexible being, with a little patience and some consistency with your routine, you will surely start to notice the difference within yourself, and hopefully feel a lot better for it too.
